These tongue twisters for kids are a fun child-friendly way to improve speech and pronunciation!
These are my all-time favourite tongue twisters to use with my drama classes- the kids absolutely love trying them out. You will be sure to get a few giggles, but you will also see your kids grow in confidence as they realize that they’re not as tricky as they first thought!
Here are some top tips for introducing tongue twisters:
- Start with a short one!
- Remind your child to GO SLOW- it isn’t a race. Get accuracy first and then work on building speed if they want the challenge.
- Help them to understand the tongue twister and say it with meaning. This above anything else will help them to conquer the tongue twister. When they understand what the phrase means, they will be able to put stress on the right words and will suddenly find it easy!
- It might help to start with some breathing and projection exercises to warm up before trying the tongue twisters.
- Above all- have fun!! Kids achieve more when they are relaxed and happy. Make sure you take away any pressure and instead use these tongue twisters for a fun challenge. Be positive!
